Аннотация.
A viscoelastic approach that describes the long-wavelength dispersion of the Langmuir mode in the classical one-component plasma (OCP) is presented. The main objective of this simple approach is to correctly capture the onset of negative dispersion at the crossover between ideal plasma (gas-like regime) and strongly coupled plasma (liquid-like regime) dynamics. In this regime, known as Frenkel crossover, the bulk and shear relaxation times are comparable with the oscillation period, and neither purely viscous nor elastic responses are appropriate. The proposed viscoelastic approach predicts the onset of negative dispersion with remarkable precision. Its accuracy in weak- and strong coupling regimes, advantage over previous approaches, and potential relevance to other fluids are briefly discussed.
